More About The Fuller Still Authorized Bootleg . . .

At the time of this album’s release, Fuller Still has been making music as a band for more than four years. That’s a long time in band-years. Over those four years, we’ve learned a lot, including this: Every time you make a new album, that album is your favorite one, until you make another. After listening to the Fuller Still Authorized Bootleg, you might think this album is the exception to that rule. You’d be wrong. Sorry.

The reasons that some people might, at first, dislike this album are the same reasons that we love it. When you listen to this album, you’ll be hearing and experiencing the same things that you would if you attended a youth event at which Fuller Still were a featured musical group. You get the good with the . . . not-so-good. But it’s all good.

For example, you’ll hear Josh overshoot the ending of a song, and you’ll hear the rest of the band laugh at him. You’ll hear Justin wreck his voice by the end of your time together, making him sound like he’s going through puberty all over again. You’ll hear Gail introduce a song with the eloquent sentence, “This is the ‘love you Lord forever.’” You’ll hear missed notes, unplanned feedback, amp wobbles, and Graham screaming, “EVEN THE TRAIN!!!!”

There are some wonderfully ugly, unpolished moments. Of course, you’ll also hear beautiful moments of synchronicity (not the Police album) where the band meets in harmony to praise Jesus. You’ll experience the energy of a room full of middle school students bursting with a love for God. And you’ll be moved when you hear them surrender their lives and sing, “I will follow You.” You know what we mean – it’s like you’re at a youth event with Fuller Still.

There’s something nice about shiny, slickly-produced studio albums, but those albums can only get you so far. For the past three years, whenever we play youth events, people ask, “where can I get (this sing-along or worship song)?” Here you go. Welcome to the party. Pass it on.
